Serco HVLS fan series
The High Volume Low Speed (HVLS) fan series is designed to provide facilities with a cost-effective and energy efficient cooling and heating solution, says Serco. The fans work, says the company, by using aerodynamics to slowly move a massive column of air, creating a deep horizontal floor jet that circulates the air in large spaces. The breeze created by the HVLS fans breaks the moisture-saturated boundary layer on the skin, providing an 8-10° cooling sensation. Serco says this allows facilities to raise thermostats in the summer months, saving money on their air conditioning bills without sacrificing the comfort of their workers. In colder months, the fans enable “destratification” of the facility by running in reverse to circulate hot air trapped at ceiling level. Serco’s HVLS fans include patented components designed to maximize the fan’s effectiveness, and can also contribute to LEED Certification credits, says the company.
