Technologie Demtroys places first in 13th Quebec Entrepreneurship Contest

July 5, 2011 - Technologie Demtroys has won first prize in the technical and technological innovations category of the provincial Quebec Entrepreneurship Contest. The awards ceremony was held in Quebec City on June 16. Technologie Demtroys is a Sherbrooke company that offers energy savings solutions to the owners of multi-unit residential buildings that pay the cost of heating for their tenants. The Demtroys System claims to adjust the amount of energy used for heating according to outside temperature, thus limiting wasted energy and resulting in 10% to 35% lower heating costs.

Technologie Demtroys caught the attention of the Entrepreneurship jury particularly for the innovative and environmentally friendly nature of the Demtroys System and for Jean-Sébastien Cyr’s outstanding profile as an entrepreneur,” said contest organizers.

“Mr. Cyr’s award proves once again that by building on clean technologies, Sherbrooke has all the potential to become world leader in innovation,” added Pierre Bélanger, executive director of Sherbrooke Innopole.

Sixty-eight projects were submitted in the technical and technological innovations category of the 13th Quebec Entrepreneurship Contest, which is designed to promote entrepreneurial culture in Quebec by recognizing new businesses. Among the 19 finalists attending the awards ceremony, Technologie Demtroys brought home the trophy and a $10,000 bursary.

“This recognition gives us a lot of credibility and should attract the attention of building owners,” said Jean- Sébastien Cyr, president of Technologie Demtroys. “Our technology responds to a very real need in managing heating costs. Until now, there were far too few options on the market.”
