Montreal, QC – The Canadian GeoExchange Coalition (CGC) announced that it has entered into an agreement with the Heating, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI) to offer the CGC GeoExchange Installers’ Course to a wider HVAC industry audience. The first course, to be delivered by HRAI’s SkillTech Academy, is scheduled for April 15-17, 2009 in Peterborough, ON.
The training agreement comes in response to industry demand, and a desire from both organizations to work more closely together. Given the significant increase in the number of geothermal systems being installed throughout Canada over the past year, HRAI members involved in this sector of the industry have requested that HRAI expand its residential course offerings to include this program.

The training agreement builds on the existing cooperation between CGC and HRAI regarding the delivery of the Residential Heat Loss & Heat Gain Calculation course offered by HRAI throughout Canada. In the context of the CGC Global Quality GeoExchange Program, a heat loss and heat gain course is required to obtain CGC Residential Designer accreditation. Over the past year, CGC has recommended and publicized HRAI and other heat loss / heat gain courses to CGC trainees across the country.

“This agreement will strengthen the cooperation between CGC and HRAI and will help Canadian contractors broaden their industry skill levels” said Joanne Spurrell, HRAI Director for Education & Market Development.

“We see this training agreement with HRAI as a way to accomplish two things” said Ted Kantrowitz, CGC Vice-President. “First it will alert more forward-thinking and responsible contractors to the phenomenal annual growth we’ve had in the Canadian geoexchange industry, and to encourage them to enter our sector. The second piece is to continue growing the effectiveness of our industry overall by growing our active partnerships with traditional channels of information delivery” he added.
