Now in its ninth year, the competition encourages engineering and business students around the world—working in teams of two—to develop ideas and solutions for more energy-efficient cities. This year’s finalists will be invited to Schneider’s two-day Global Innovation Summit in Barcelona, Spain, in October, where they will be connected to and mentored by industry experts.

In 2018, more than 24,000 students took part, representing more than 3,000 universities in 163 countries. One of the finalist teams was from the University of Calgary, while the global winning team was from Algeria’s Pan African University Institute of Water and Energy Sciences.

Participants in this year’s competition may enter ideas in four categories: buildings of the future; plants of the future; grids of the future; and sustainability and access to energy. The deadline for submissions is May 25. For more information, click here.
