Now in its third year, the initiative is led by the OPA in collaboration with the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) and Electricity Distributors Association (EDA).

“Municipalities are among the many customers with whom our members often partner in efforts to use energy more efficiently, and we know a lot of effort and innovation is going on out there,” said Jim Hogan, EDA chair.

The application period runs from March 31 until May 30, 2014. Finalists will be chosen in June, and winners are scheduled to be announced at the AMO annual general meeting in August 2014.

The Community Conservation Awards are presented to communities demonstrating strong achievement in the following areas:

• Conservation leadership
• Innovation and market transformation
• Corporate/internal and community engagement
