“In the course of the energy revolution, it will become ever more important for energy-intensive industries to produce with the highest possible energy efficiency in order to save money,” said Jan Mrosik, CEO of the Smart Grid Division of the Siemens Infrastructure & Cities Sector.
The first step will be to analyze the energy data management requirements of the petrochemical processes in the Gelsenkirchen plant. Siemens will then use its energy automation products and systems to develop the required energy data management solution, which should be capable of being used at every power level, from low, through medium to high voltage.
“We’re now systematically expanding energy management in the same way as environmental and quality management,” said Thomas Strickling, who is responsible for energy supply at SABIC Polyolefine GmbH in Gelsenkirchen. “The solution developed jointly with Siemens will give us the information we require to embed energy-efficiency awareness, not only in all the processes, but also in the minds of our employees.”
