LHM Technologies Inc. of Woodbridge, Ont.,  a state-of-the-art manufacturing space producing precision components for the aerospace, military, automotive, oil and gas and nuclear energy sectors, has replaced the facility lighting in its 50,000 sq. ft. industrial plant with a custom engineered wireless lighting solution that is now providing three times more light on the production floor with more than 85% efficiency.

The lighting solution was installed by Toronto-based EcoGrid Technologies. According to EcoGrid, using bluetooth controls to automate illumination levels based on usage has resulted in more than 600,000 kWh of annual consumption savings from lighting for LHM. “This project will pay for itself in a few months, not years,” notes EcoGrid’s president, George Filtsos, in a company release.

EcoGrid has created a system using microwave sensors that allows them to automate industrial spaces requiring higher egress protection and safety standards which standard passive infrared (PIR) sensor technologies were not able to access, such as environments requiring protection from inert gases, chemicals and dust.
