NB Power launches Small Business Lighting Program

September 25, 2017 - NB Power is offering a new incentive program for energy-efficient lighting upgrades for small business and commercial buildings.

The Small Business Lighting Program offers eligible businesses targeted advice and financial incentives for upgrades to lighting systems and controls. Lighting can be a significant portion of the electricity bill for a small business and, through this program, business owners can get up to $7500 in incentives.

“Not only does the program offer incentives but, year over year, the cost savings from these upgrades will help to ensure that these enterprises continue to do business and provide jobs in New Brunswick,” said Gaëtan Thomas, president and CEO.

Businesses in New Brunswick with energy consumption less than 100,000 kWh a year may be eligible. To determine eligibility and to begin the program, business or building owners can visit nbpower.com/businesslighting for complete program details, or call 800-663-6272 and press 5.

This is the second energy efficiency program for commercial businesses and, along with the Commercial Buildings Retrofit Program, is aimed at helping businesses eliminate energy waste and improve profitability by reducing energy and maintenance costs.

With the launch of the Small Business Lighting Program, NB Power now offers six energy efficiency programs, which include the Home Insulation Energy Savings Program, Commercial Buildings Retrofit Program, Low Income Energy Savings Program, Home Energy Report Program and Smart Habits Rebate Program (which will offer in-store rebates in October and November).

These programs have provided customers with about $13 million in incentives for upgrades since April 2015, says NB Power, resulting in more than $45 million in spin-off benefits as home and business owners purchase materials and hire local contractors to do the work.
